Least Concern

The Palau Owl has a very small range of 440 square kilometers. This species is only found in Palau and is a fairly common resident of mangroves, forests, and second growth on most islands in the country. Although the population size of the Palau Owl is unknown, it appears to be common and even occurs in villages. For this reason, it has been given a conservation rating of Least Concern.

SUMMARY

Overview

Palau Owl: Small to medium-sized red-brown owl with gray-white and black spots on back, wings, and underparts. Gray-white above and between eyes, and on edge of face. Round head with red-brown eyes, and white-yellow bill. Female slightly larger and darker than male, Juvenile is uniform white-brown with black-brown wings.
